The territory
The Nive valley is undoubtedly the most emblematic of the Basque Country for trout fishing. The beauty of its landscapes and the quality of its wild rivers give it a national reputation. It is a true paradise for trout fishermen.
The Nive des Aldudes also called Nive de Baigorri on its lower part is a mythical river of the Basque Country. Here, trout are earned and their wariness can easily confuse even the most experienced fishermen. You will long remember their typical dress adorned with large black spots. The growth of trout is rapid on this river and you will be surprised by the average size even at the head of the basin near the sources.
Navarre is one of the 4 Spanish provinces of the Basque Country. This region offers many possibilities for trout fishing in exceptional wild landscapes.
This river still shelters some salmon, shad and sea trout that come to reproduce there. Its main course and its tributaries present very interesting routes for dry and nymph fishing.
This region is an unusual fly fishing destination in the Basque Country. Little known, the hydrographic network of this territory hides small treasures.
It is on the lakes of the south of the Landes that I hunt predators with a fly, especially pike. The Étang Blanc and the Étang de Hardy in Seignosse, or even the Lac de Soustons, have an ideal profile for streamer fishing. These lakes offer hundreds of hectares in the middle of the Landes forest. Every autumn, a new season begins and the scenery of the Landes lakes never leaves nature and fishing lovers indifferent.
